Synopsis: Legendary swordsman Nemuri Kyoshiro (Tamura Masakazu) has a complicated background. One day, the monk Kuzen (Nakahara Takeo), who can be considered Kyoshiro’s foster father, is killed with a sword. Kyoshiro comes back to Edo after a long time and is welcomed by Mojiwaka (Natori Yuko), Kinpachi (Yashima Norito) and Matsudaira Mondonosho (Tsugawa Masahiko) whom he has close relations with. Saddened beyond words by the death of Kuzen who loved him deeply and brought him up from a very young age, Kyoshiro recalls his childhood.

 Meanwhile, when Kyoshiro is relaxing in the home of the meddlesome Mojiwaka, Kinpachi who knows the gossip about town, noisily rushes in with a dark expression. He says a young lady has called at the house and wants to meet Kyoshiro. Misao (Yoshioka Riho) appears and suddenly calls Kyoshiro “father”. Kyoshiro is lost for words but does not distance himself. Then he learns about the existence of Kagami Yozo (Shiina Kippei) who uses mysterious black magic as well as the same Engetsu (full moon) killing technique as him, and has to confront his own past.

Starring Kataoka Takao as Nemuri Kyoshiro and the beautiful Matsuo Kayo shines in the supporting role. Based originally on a Kabuki-play, this is the tragic story of a young Samurai, Nemuri Kyoshiro, who was born as the result of a rape during a black mass. Rejected by his family he is raised in a temple. The priest becomes his friend and confidant. To restrain and discipline his "evil soul" he focuses on perfecting the art of the "Engetsu Sappo" or “Full Moon” style of sword fighting, which comes in handy in his quest for justice and revenge. Nemuri Kyoshiro is back in Edo, and as usual, trouble seems to follow him wherever goes. Although unwilling to do the bidding of the Shogun's chief advisor, Kyoshiro is drawn into the middle of an evil plot by the Satsuma Clan and 13 other Daimyo to overthrow the government. Will his "Full Moon Sword Style" be enough to stop the vicious plot and protect his friends from harm?

Rare Re-mastered quality Samurai Action Movie by Tamura Masakazu, Hiroshi Abe, Kimiko Ikegami & Hitomi Kuroki. He returns as Nemuri Kyoshiro for the fourth and final time. Nemuri Kyoshirō (眠 狂四郎) is a series of jidaigeki novels written by Renzaburo Shibata. The stories were originally serialized on May 1956 in the Shūkan Shinchō. Nemuri uses a distinctive sword style: Engetsu Sappo.

1995 Film release- "VERY" rare/hard to get series of Tamura.

The stories take place during Edo period under the Tokugawa shogunate and the rule of Tokugawa Ienari and center around the title character, a sleepy-eyed, outlaw swordsman/Masakazu Tamura who is the son of a Japanese mother and a foreign father, who was conceived during a Black Mass.
