Nagisa Kinomiya/Maki Horikita is a detective for the 7 Investigation Division. The team consists of female detectives and they seek out female criminals and to help female victims. Nagisa has a special ability to hear the mind's of others. To shutout other people's emotions, she wears a headset, but, when working on a case, she uses her special ability. At crime scenes, Nagisa can hear the left behind voices of criminals and victims.

Uchoten Hotel ~Suite Dreams *Koji Yakusho EN Subtitled

It's New Year's Eve for the Hotel Avanti (Set in a five star Tokyo hotel), and the whole place is in panic mode. There's an award ceremony and countdown party to prepare for, guests to greet, entertainment to organise, a persistent call girl to deter, an escapee duck to find, and more. It is near impossible to sum up this film in a few neat concise paragraphs. The level of writing that has gone into this film is fantastic. Throughout, it really feels like a stage play. The viewer feels intimate with the story and characters, and there is a real warmth and closeness there that is rare to find. Perhaps it the writer's experience with the stage that allows that quality to come through, and as such it is a real strength for the film. This intimacy really helps the viewer to involve themselves in the story, which is incredibly fast-paced and deliciously mischievous in design. The film is really funny, and represents a very full spectrum of humour, from "hmmm" funny to "hah hah", and wry to downright silly, but still manages to be quite understated. The jokes of course wouldn't work without the film's biggest strength: the characters (All-star, major Japanese actors & actresses). They are all so enjoyable to watch, as their adventures and mishaps tangle and spiral together, gathering momentum in one huge snowball effect. Some scenes are the culmination of so many threads that it is wonderfully painful to watch it all come together. It is hard not to talk at the TV. To the writer's credit though, the film is often refreshingly unpredictable, and I was impressed to find that this comedy of errors didn't just rely on the same old gags as similarly styled comedies. The film also carries a dramatic message, and while all of the characters are caricatures of sorts, they are much deeper than that, and live and breath to the extent that the viewer finds themselves genuinely caring about what happens to them. There are so many great characters and scenes in this film that it would be a very cynical viewer that couldn't take away something memorable from it.

Mondai no Aru Restaurant *Yoko Maki & Masahiro Higashide

Tamako Tanaka/Yoko Maki was working for a male-dominated restaurant business but was betrayed by her boyfriend who was hired as the chef. She is taken to the police as a result of an incident she caused because her friend Kyoko Morimura/Asami Usuda who was subjected to sexual harassment.

 Tamako resigns from her unreasonable company and starts a bistro selling homemade pot-au-feu on a rooftop in an alley in Jingumae, Tokyo. This is the story of females who are labelled "write-offs" and the restaurant they have established in order for them to get out from life's abyss. They battle difficulties and search for ways to change their lives as they experience the joys of work. This is a problem restaurant; because they are all females with problems, but it is certainly not lousy. All of the women there have a common enemy – MEN, and unites them in a fight to the death.

Higanbana 2014 SP *Maki Horikita, YOU & Jiyoung

Kinomiya Nagisa/Horikita Maki is a detective with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s 7th Investigative Division. She is attuned to the evil intentions of other people and usually wears headphones to block these out because they interfere with her life. This ability distresses her, but she exercises it in investigations. She gets clues to arrest criminals by sensing a criminal’s urge to kill or a suspect’s hidden evil intent at a crime scene. The 7th Investigative Division which Nagisa belongs to, was established with the objective of taking countermeasures against female criminals and female victims. It is a unit made up of idiosyncratic women from the head of the division, Segawa Sumire/Daichi Mao, to Nagisa, Minegishi Yukino/Dan Rei, Ito Rin/Takanashi Rin, Yanagi Sachiko/YOU, and forensic researcher Nagami Karuko/Jiyoung.

One day, a threat is delivered to each media outlet, hotel in Tokyo, and wedding place. It says, “If all wedding ceremonies to be held in the metropolis on 26th of this month are not cancelled, people will die” The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department start to investigate this warning of murders. The wedding ceremony of the famous plastic surgeon Eto Tamaki/Kokusho Sayuri is scheduled on that date. She declares that she will not call off the ceremony. On that day, the First Investigative Division guards her wedding. However, a murder occurs at the hotel venue.

DT Gotsuee Kanji*RARE*Kura-pee Loves Ryoko EN Sub/Streaming

 

This "short clip" is one of my personal favorites. I'm not sure if anyone has subbed it. I took liberty in subtitling it because I think YOU and Ryoko did a really AWESOME job. Kurano was okay, but still funny if you haven't seen it. (I subbed it in a "more" modern language version, in case it had been done by someone else. I did it this way so you can enjoy the clip even further!)

 

Thank you for those who informed this clip being subbed by someone else. (As I mentioned above, I subbed it in a paradox way, in my "exaggerated" version to give it some "punch"!) I believe no "two subbing works" are the same. I hope you enjoy this one too. Also I put it out for the "newbies" to Downtown Gaki no Tsukai, who haven't seen it yet...
