Game is a 2003 Japanese thriller film, based on a novel by Keigo
HigashinoA kidnapper holds a girl hostage until a ransom demand is paid from her father. The kidnapper is actually an advertiser, who has been beaten to a 3 billion deal and so takes his Rival's daughter hostage. The boss's runaway daughter played by Yukie Nakama, and they plot to fake her kidnapping. but things turn bizarre when after the payoff, the jewelry is still missing. The love angle between the two leads is expected, but there are a lot of twists towards the last thirty minutes of the film; it's not the usual from this simple plot. Lots of parts to be suspended by, without any shooting or violence, due in large part to Naohito Fujiki's excellent acting. It's slick, it's smart, it's suspenseful. Watch it now, before Hollywood decides to buy the rights and turn this excellent story into another pretty-boy action-star vehicle, In the end the girl turns out to be more than she seems and turns into a handful for her kidnapper.
