Uncle Ayano is a sound engineer and record producer who comes to stay for a visit. He engages in inward reflection, seeks closure regarding an old relationship, and recounts a childhood experience- a tale which influences Sachiko and ties into later events.

How hard is it to kill an idiot? Just ask Kudo Kankuro! The acclaimed screenwriter brings his 2004 Kunio Kishida-winning stage play Donju (a.k.a. Dumb Animal) to the big screen in all its wacky tragicomedic glory. The one and only Asano Tadanobu sports a seriously nerdy chawan-cut hairdo (bowl haircut) to play the leading role of simple-minded novelist Dekogawa, who has mysteriously disappeared. Dekogawa wrote an autobiography about his youth that reveals not only his past, but also some of his childhood friends' best-forgotten secrets. In order to keep the skeletons in the closet, these buddies of yesteryear try to silence him permanently. But no matter how hard they try to kill Dekogawa, he just keeps coming back - because he's simply too thickheaded to die!

Hosono Hideaki (director), gives Donju a bright and fast-paced edge, but the road-runner humor, unpredictable story, and loony flights of fancy are all Kudo Kankuro. The over the-top suspense comedy even packs in some impressive animation sequences by Studio 4C. Joining in on the fun are co-stars Yoko Maki (The Vanished), Yusuke Santamaria (Kisaragi), Kazuki Kitamura (Suspect X), Yoko Minamino , and popular African-American enka singer Jero in his acting debut.

She serves delicious coffee and selects music for the guests, while her nephew Koji/Hiroshi Abe is always there for her. Sometimes Etsuko looks at the sea and waits for someone. People, who have their own problems, somehow are attracted to the cafe. By meeting Etsuko, their lives begin to change.

Based on Niji no Misaki no Kissaten, a novel written by Akio Morisawa. Tiny stories about great emotions, they make you feel all fuzzy and well... Although sometimes tears wouldn't stop coming, I think they are totally worth the time.
